Exercise 12...again!

Yipppeeee! I got my "Rollyo" on here! Thank you, Trina! You saved me from further frustration!

Exercise 12

I don't think that I would have a need to use Rollyo since I have already added all my favorite websites to my PC and use my free time on the computer from home. I'm also not sure if I understand how to use it properly. I'm also having trouble adding the link onto this blog. Great. I'm going to ask Trina for help when she's not busy. I'm going to the next exercise in the meantime...

Exercise 11

I explored some of the sites from the Web 2.0 awards list and found the site that I really enjoyed and will actually use will be the Wayfaring.com. On this site you can create and personalize your maps. I find this helpful because I moved to another city about a year ago and I'm still learning about all the local shops and restaurants in the area. Recently I just relocated to another branch and I'm not familiar with the area. As I learn of all the shops and restaurants, I will mark them on the map to help me finding the location and finding new stops.

Exercise 10

Walk of Fame Animated codes - ImageChef.com ImageChef.com - Create custom images ImageChef.com - Create custom images
Make Visual Poetry - ImageChef.com

Exercise 9

I checked out some of my favorite websites, which are mostly clothing retailers, to see if they provide news feeds. Most of them did not, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that Nordstrom does provide a news feed. Actually it took some time to find it because I had to search under a certain criteria to actually have one provided from Nordstrom. I didn't really care for using the Blogline's Search tool because I didn't find it effective for searching for things that interest me. I will just stick to my favorites for now.

Exercise 8

Learning about the RSS wasn't really that exciting, but I think that it is an effective tool for keeping track of your favorite web sites all on one page and I can see myself continuing to use this Bloglines account. The trouble is that I am not sure if I am doing my public Bloglines URL correctly. I may need assistance from my fellow co-worker....hint,hint. :)

Exercise 7

My technology favorite is my Blackberry Pearl. Previously I had carried the same phone around with me for about three years. I basically just used it for phone calls and occasional text messages. After seeing people with sleek new phones equipped with cameras, MP3's, and emails, I finally decided to get a new phone, since the battery was slowing and the phoned looked and was dated. I decided to purchase the Blackberry Pearl because I was fascinated with all the extras and by the look of it. I wasn't sure if I would use all the extras, but I figured I could always return it if I wasn't satisfied. After playing around and learning about the phone, I immediately got hooked. How I love this phone! It's compact and easy to use considering that the keyboard is small. Using the keyboards when I text message or when I type my appointments on my calendar is quite smooth. I have so many other uses besides this, and I often wonder why I took so long to upgrade my phone. I use the alarm to wake me up in the morning, send pictures of my nephew to my sister, check several of my emails, and I even use it for Google maps! I am currently learning more about this phone. So many features. Awesome!

Exercise 6

I continued to check out Mappr, Flickr Color Pickr and Montagr. I found them to be useful tools to that I might decide to use later. I really enjoyed and spent a lot of time wit the fd's Flickr toys. I had fun using my favorite photographs by making them into magazine covers, movie posters, and the motivation posters. I lost track of time using these online "toys". I'm glad that I had the opportunity to find out about these sites.

Exercise 5

In this exercise, I discovered the wonderful world of Flickr. I usually use Picasa or the album in Photoshop, but I find that Flickr to have more options and much more fun! I can organize all my photos and I can share these memories with friends or the public. The one feature that I liked a lot was the fact that you can add notes to your photos. It's fun because you can add a note along with what the photographer has also written about the photo. I love going through public photos because I have found some really amazing photographs! I take a lot of photographs of my nephews and I know that now I am going to use Flickr on a regular basis to keep the rest of my family updated with pics of Tyler and Tristan.

While exploring public photos through Flickr, I came upon is this beautiful photo of the New York City skyline. It is an incredible photo to behold. The depth and symmetary is beautiful. The dark skies over the tall buildings and busy streets below, reminds me of a more personal and quieter place to observe the beauty around you while visiting NYC. This photo inspires me even more to make a visit to New York City sooner than I hope.

Exercises 3 and 4

Done! Actually, quite some time ago!
